what i'm up to
at the moment i'm working on autumn theme. cycles of life reflected in nature which we are part of. i'm working with dry grass and other sapless plants that can be found now in autumn. as well as seeds and soil.
sometimes we- human beings think that we are (or should be) in control of nature- clean the old leaves away and eliminate from our view everything dead and decayed.
i believe we should acknowledge more the strong connection with nature even if it would mean coming down from the hight towers that we have so persuasively built and to see out own temporality.
it is worth remarking the often used comparison of men to culture and women to nature.

Friendship is a rainbow
.. full of rain and sun, from which arise the whole range of colours- so beautiful, intangible and rare.

the strength of weakness
Man, when he enters life,
is soft and weak.
When he dies
he is hard and strong.
Plants, when they enter life,
are soft and tender.
When they die
they are dry and stiff.
Therefore: the hard and the strong
are companions of death;
the soft and the weak
are companions of life.
Therefore: when weapons are strong they are not victorious
When trees are strong they are cut down.
The strong, the great, is below.
The soft, the weak, is above.
(Laozi assumes that weakness will prevail over strength precisely because of its expansiveness, flexibility and endurance. Trength eventually exhausts itself while the energy of weakness is boundless.)

back to the art school
praxis A term in use since Aristotle, to whom praxis is one of the tree basic activities of human being (the other being theoria or theory, and poiesia, or skilful manufacture). Praxis in Aristotle includes voluntary or goal-directed action, although it sometimes also include the condition that the action is itself part of the end, an action done for its own sake.
Praxis is also connecter with genuinely free, self-conscious, authentic activity as opposed to alienated labour demanded under capitalism.

Haris . The Mission House
Sabi.
Wabi.
Wabi.
Wabi Sabi inhabit the Mission House
Mission House is home, gallery and studio of two very harmonious and distinctive artists- Beka and Nickolai Globe and the reason for my visit to Harris.
Happy and clever dog Kato (my walking companion)
Harris . fish
We borrowed fishing rod from Beka's father (Steve Dalworth- amazing sculptor and person) and followed a small stream up hill to a loch. Sea was down below us and the rainbow above. So we started- a worm on a hook and hook in the water (or sometimes in the grass (that's more for me)) and two fishes for a starter were proudly brought back home.
Harris . land
Harris is the southern part of island in hebrides archipelago (next to Isle of Skye), North West of Scotland. It is much more mountainous that it's neighbour Lewis.
Harris . beaches
Peat block .
Harris coast is surrounded by stunning sandy and rocky beaches. Water is incredibly blue and if it would be a couple of degrees warmer I though Im in Caribbean. There are Dolphins (which are the most visible), several types of whales and even one type of shark.
