what I've been doing these last 4 weeks !?

This is the place where I have spent the most of my time these last couple of weeks- being angry, sad, happy, excited, pissed off and overall very content.

Today was the hand in and it is pleasing to look back and see where I started 4 weeks ago and where I am now. Some development of work in the photo above with the larger piece that I haven't finished yet.

This is the installation that I made in my studio space where we had to present our creations. I am quite happy about 'silence' that white plinths and wall create although ideally each piece would be displayed in a white room on its own with a single spotlight from the top.
We had been given a brief called Utopia. I was looking eastwards and inwards. The fundamental idea that I was concentrating on was that utopia ultimately will become dystopia and dystopia- utopia. Similarly the inside of the bowl can't exist without the outside. Perfection is something that can be strived for..

This is the most personal work from them all. Inspired by the interiors of orthodox churches. In churches saints have golden circles around their heads, and for me, they have always been symbols of spirit, that is why I have took it out from the biblical context and presented as a pure spirit.

These three porcelain circles represent never-ending change between the opposites. The black that is coming from white is trying to cover the white and never succeeds in this circle that never connects and is in constant flux.

Calligraphy is believed to exist in the moment when it is produces. Like life, it starts when ink hits the paper and ends when brush is lifted; everything that is left on the surface is a trace of energy. The Zen Circle above is the result of the meditative process that I dedicated  these weeks to practice. Oh, and it is just one colour of ink!
Bowl at the bottom is a little porcelain cup that had a crack which I repaired with gold. Japanese believe in beauty in imperfection.

Cant see too clearly in this photo, but the inside is square and black, but the outside round and white.

These figures are from the previous project, but they seem to perfectly fit in, in this project as well. They are representations of Mother Nature (The shape was taken from Venus of Willendorf). This particular figure is plastic light that changes the colour. When I created it I thought of modern citied that never sleep with huge screens that change rapidly.
