Haris . The Mission House

 Sabi.

Wabi.

Wabi Sabi inhabit the Mission House

Mission House is home, gallery and studio of two very harmonious and distinctive artists- Beka and Nickolai Globe and the reason for my visit to Harris.

Happy and clever dog Kato (my walking companion)

Harris . fish

We borrowed fishing rod from Beka's father (Steve Dalworth- amazing sculptor and person) and followed a small stream up hill to a loch. Sea was down below us and the rainbow above. So we started- a worm on a hook and hook in the water (or sometimes in the grass (that's more for me)) and two fishes for a starter were proudly brought back home.

Harris . land

Harris is the southern part of island in hebrides archipelago (next to Isle of Skye), North West of Scotland. It is much more mountainous that it's neighbour Lewis.

Harris . beaches

Peat block .

Harris coast is surrounded by stunning sandy and rocky beaches. Water is incredibly blue and if it would be a couple of degrees warmer I though Im in Caribbean. There are Dolphins (which are the most visible), several types of whales and even one type of shark.

Harris . rocks have names

Climbing hills to collect rocks.

We found this amazing spot- a coliseum of heather and pink rock

We melted the rocks in around 1300°C  what transformed the iron rich stone in hard lava like substance, pink rocks turned white and parted like cotton wool and some other turned into liquid and melted away. Fun.
I'll look at stones differently now.
